You've spent years learning to understand your child. But how will someone else know everything you know?

As the parent of a nonspeaking autistic child, you understand things that other people might not immediately recognise.

You know the little signals that mean something isn't right.

You know what brings your child comfort, what overwhelms them, and how they communicate their needs, feelings and preferences.

You know their routines, their favourite things, and the small details that make a big difference to their day.

But there's a question that may sometimes weigh heavily on your mind.

What happens if I'm not there to explain all of this?

Perhaps you've worried about becoming ill or having an unexpected emergency.

Perhaps you've wondered what will happen as you get older.

Or perhaps you've asked yourself the question that's hardest to think about:

Who will understand my child when I'm no longer here?

You can't prepare for every possibility.

But you can start sharing the knowledge you've spent years building.
